Beaucanon Estate History
The insight of Jacques de Coninck is the foundation of quality for Beaucanon Estate wines. And the family background didn't hurt either! The de Conincks have been established in Bordeaux for centuries, making wines in Canon-Fronsac region. Chateau Canon and Chateau Junayme are acknowledged as two of the finest Estates in the area.

Chateau Junayme, est.1802
When Jacques de Coninck left Bordeaux in 1978 to search for prime vineyard property in the up and coming Napa Valley, he had the right name at his fingertips and from Chateau Canon Beaucanon Estate was born. Mr. de Coninck purchased the first of three top-quality Napa Valley vineyards in 1980. With centuries of his family’s wine business experience in one of the world’s greatest wine producing regions to back him, he selected unique vineyard sites which excelled in soil, aspect and climate characteristics. Ultimately, these vineyards total 203 acres and are the envy of viticulturalists and wineries throughout the valley.
The first winery was built in 1987 just outside of St. Helena. Large and imposing, it boasted a spacious tasting room and lovely grounds. Also, a crush pad and winery with all the latest equipment that turned out almost 30,000 cases of wine yearly! After seven years at this facility, Louis grew tired of large productions that couldn't be true to the different flavors of the different grapes, sold the building and retreated to the Longwood Ranch Vineyard. The historic barn set on its southern-most edge has been re-fitted with a gentle basket-style press, temperature controlled tanks and a full labratory that produces just under 12,000 cases. Work is slow but steady and a tasting room and caves are next on the list.
